I was absolutely blown away by Gary Newman’s performances during this weekend’s Cruel World Festival in Pasadena.
I last met Gary in ‘97 and he doesn’t look a day older. His dancing exudes to much raw power as his body lurches around like a reanimated corpse. And the music is stunning. He even plays electric guitar! So much for any pre conceptions I may have had about an 80’s synthesizer band.
I also love his band. He seems to have dug up the parts for these guys from various graveyards and then assembled them into two of the most macho guys I’ve ever seen wearing a skirt.
I hope these versions of my electric paintings honor the great man.
